Optimising, an independent SEO agency based in Melbourne, has been granted B Corporation status.
A company with B Corporation status has undergone an analysis of all of its social and environmental impact.
The agency has undergone a rigorous two-year process to meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability.
To meet the required reach, organizations must demonstrate how they are making a difference, showing hard evidence and a business strategy that reflects a commitment to balancing profit and purpose.
The B Corp assessment involves measuring an organization’s business model and performance with respect to governance, employees, customers, community and environment.
Optimization co-founder, James Richardson, said, “We have always strived to have a positive impact as a company. Since our inception, we have strived to be environmentally conscious, transparent and customer-centric. We had been continually inspired by the B Corp movement, so becoming certified seemed like the next logical step.
“Our mission is now clear to our team and our clients – becoming a B Corp means we are reinforcing our commitment to do better. Upholding ethical practices, striving to make a difference, and putting purpose before profit has attracted like-minded employees and customers. We now have a team that is excited to grow and evolve and is working on projects they are proud of.
“We hope to inspire other companies in the digital space to follow our example and use their profits to solve key social and environmental issues in Australia, and that being a B Corp will establish a new level of trust with our customers and will make us a first choice for potential employees.
The Optimizing team worked closely with global non-profit organization B Lab for several months to assess its business model and make necessary changes.
The agency needed to update its operations and governance measures, including transparency, and formalize its new processes and policies before sharing them with employees.
Optimizing has also expanded its environmental efforts by joining the global organization 1% For the Planet, whose members pledge to donate at least 1% of their annual profits to environmental causes.
